The Erktat Interceptor is the Gohorn response to the increasing proliferation of fighter use on the planetary battlefield. The Terrans started using fighters to attack ground positions in the first Terran/Gohorn war, but during that war there was little time to create a new class of fighter to combat them, and so the Gohorns became efficient makers of surface to air missiles.

However, recently, with the resurgence of the war with the Terrans, plans for the Erktat Interceptor, a modification to the Harto class Battle Fighter have been pushed to the forefront of Gohorn attention. Thus, a small line of Erktat Interceptors has been built for use on the Gohorn/Terran and Gohorn/Rosebourg fronts in atmospheric fighter combat.

The Erktat Interceptor is essentially the same ship as the Harto Battle Fighter, however with one addition. It has atmospheric engines, capable of propelling the fighter through an atmosphere attached to either wing of the craft. This means that it is slightly slower than its Harto companion.
