Yolot "Surface-to-Air" missiles are the Gohorn's main answer to enemy atmospheric fighters. Rather than attack them on an even playing field, the Remteklar commissioned an investigation in to finding the best way to combat the latest scourge of atmospheric capable fighter craft.
The research and development team returned, claiming that construction of Atmospheric fighters would be a massive undertaking by the Remteklar, and a new line of fighters (with extensive modifications, all of which needed to be designed so that the ship could fly in an atmosphere) would never be ready in time.
Thus, they presented modifications to already existing missiles designed for bringing down hovercraft.
The Yolot missiles were outfitted with hover engines so that they were mobile, and their weapons upgraded using the latest technology to ensure that they could capably bring down an Atmospheric fighter. These missile systems were made quickly and deployed for usage in all Remteklar engagements.
Yolot "Surface-to-Air" missiles are extremely capable of taking down an Atmospheric fighter using its homing technology. The missile locks in to the heat, metallic and broadcast signatures of the fighters, and moves in from there. Therefore, avoiding one is difficult, however not impossible as conditions on the battlefield have shown.
These missile launchers can be found in plentiful supply at every Gohorn base. They have been adapted as permanent fixtures as well. These permanent versions of the Yolot STA launcher have no hover-engines, and are positioned at bases.
This positioning means they can use the main power source of the base, thereby successfully carrying more missiles, all of which are easily replaceable as ample supplies are left nearby.
