Sensor Boomers

in Technologies

Sensor Boomers are special types of sensor arrays. They have standard scanning capacity, but an extra feature which makes them very useful along the front.

Once every three hours, a "sensor boom" is emitted, which, for three seconds doubles the range of the array, allowing for a snap-shot picture of everything outside the array's usual area of scanning.

It takes place once every three hours because that it how long it takes for the required energy to build-up in the system. Once the boom has "detonated," the energy dissipates and the cycle restarts.
